The holiday season have many families so excited to have their holiday images taken each year! Something they can cherish forever. Their loved ones can swoon over them and be so excited when they open the mail and see these amazing images of their family.
With saying this… you may not like the way you look in some of them or silly faces kids make… but its memories, memories not only for you too look back and laugh but others too. These are moments frozen in time.
I once enjoyed capturing these moments of families and children but this holiday season has not brought the nice out of people. People aren’t very kind. What they don’t know is the countless hours of no sleep and us feeling like we have let you down, how can we fix it, What should I have done differently, Is it me?, Is it something I did? More times than not… it wasn’t us, it was something simple and not so kind words come back to us. This year has got so far out of hand its unbelievable. Many Hearts are broken. Mine esp. We are human beings on the other end of that email.
I am about to stop doing mini sessions for the public anymore. 30 minutes is all a mini session is… and I can tell you half of the time you can’t get a child looking at the camera and fully laughing at you unless they are already used to you or anyone with a camera in their face (not a cell phone)… but you get that giggly face looking into mommy or daddy’s eyes and they are just more breathtaking than any of my other images.. that is my style.. If you hire a photographer hire them for their style really do research on them. Don’t be shocked when your images come back. There isn’t anything “off” or “sun shining behind you and you don’t like “… because its our style. Why hire someone if it isn’t what you like.
Most of us photographers during this season put our hearts and souls into each and every gallery we deliver… do we think one might need a tweak here or there?… yes we do.. we are only one person and human. Most photographers are spouses and/or parents or just family in general and we spend countless hours away from them to make sure we give back galleries on time and try so hard to give 100% in them. I wish I could hire people to be in 10 locations at once and edit and answer emails but for a small business that can’t happen. That would make us have to raise prices which a ton shy away from to begin with.
I can’t speak for others but I throw extra images in a gallery every so often.. Just for a silent thank you!
This season has sucked the happiness and joy out of what I love to do… This shouldn’t be happening.
So I am about to say it… for any disgruntle client who isn’t happy with their gallery. Speak to the photographer kindly they will be more willing to help and fix in any area needed. We ALL can get complacent so a little critique goes a long way. We are only one person taking time out of our busy season to capture you and your family! We only want you to love them. Also if you love your gallery please email them, call them, or message them and say “Thank you” it means more than a hug! It is such a great feeling when a client says that to us.. it reassures us photographers that we are doing something right.
For all the 100’s of amazing other clients that we have who continually support us this is not towards you and we THANK YOU!!!!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
